The quantum efficiency of the system is 27.893 % .

A certain system absorbs 3 × 10¹⁶ quanta of light per second. On irradiation for 20 minutes, 0.002 mole of the reactant has found to be reacted.

We have to find the quantum efficiency of the system.

Here, A system absorbs 3 × 10¹⁶ quanta of light per second.

∴ total no of quanta in 20 minutes = 3 × 10¹⁶ × 20 × 60

= 3600 × 10¹⁶

= 3.6 × 10¹⁹

no of moles of reactant = 0.002 mole

total no of quanta in the reactant to be reacted = 0.002 × Avogadro's number

= 0.002 × 6.023 × 10²³

= 12.046 × 10²⁰

now quantum efficiency = absorbed photons/total photons × 100

= (3.6 × 10¹⁹)/(12.046 × 10²⁰) × 100

= 27.893 %

Therefore the quantum efficiency of the system is 27.893 % .
