A certain transition in H spectrum from an excited state to ground state in
one or more steps gives rise to total 10 lines. How many of these belong
to UV spectrum

No. Of lines =( n2 - n1+1) (n2-n1) /2=10

n=5

Four lines are observed in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum. These corresponds to the transitions 5→1,4→1,3→1,2→1

So, no of lines in U.V. (Lyman series) spectrum = 4.
