The tension in the chain at a distance 3 metre from the rigid support is 70 N.

Explanation:

Total weight of the chain =10 Kg

Mass per unit length =10/10 Kg per meter

                                  = 1 Kg per meter

Now at a distance of 3 m from the support, the force experienced is due to the remaining chain hanging down i.e. 7 m.

Weight of the chain = 1 Kg/m x 7=7 KG

The force experienced = F =mg

                                      = 7 x 10 = 70 N

Thus the tension in the chain at a distance 3 metre from the rigid support is 70 N.
