Please find below the solution to the asked query:

Given :  Table was sold for Rs. 2142 at a gain of 5 % .

Let cost price of table  =  x , So we get

x  + 5% of x  =  2142

⇒x+ 5 x100 = 2142⇒x+ x20 = 2142⇒20 x + x20 = 2142⇒21 x20 = 2142⇒x = 2142 × 2021⇒x = 102 × 20⇒x =2040

So,

Cost price of table  =  Rs . 2040

Then we sold table to get 10% profit : 2040 + 10% of  2040 = 2040 + 10 × 2040100 = 2040 + 204 = Rs. 2244                          ( Ans )
