Mr. Baldwin is the protagonist of the story The
Hour of Truth.
Mr. Baldwin works in a bank.
He is honest, truthful and a man of deeds. So much so that he did not lie to save Mr. Gresham, who he was working for.
Mr. Baldwin was rewarded for his honesty and straightforwardness.
This shows that a virtuous man can lead a life of content through any kind of situation.

CHARACTER SKETCH OF BALDWIN.
Baldwin was a honest man as he was ready to give evidence against Gresham. He was loyal to his friend when there was some problem with the bank. His wife wanted to draw her money out but he wouldn't let her do it as he felt he wasn't loyal to Gresham. He was trust worthy and sincere but was not very alert though he worked under Gresham for 35 years but he came to know about the crash only a day before. He believed in high principles and refused to take the hundred thousand dollars.
Under family pressure he agrees to accept the money but the opportunity does not arise as John Gresham convests.
