it's shakespear's  one of the greatest dramatic creations
his function in the play is supposed to be the obstacle,the man who stands on the way of love stories,such a kind of man is a traditional figure in romantic stories
the way that he is a jew,is,in a sense,accidental.
shakespeare wanted to contrast liberality against selfishness in terms of money and in terms of love,
he is a kinda jewish merchant who is bent on revenge,he threatens to take a pound of flesh from another merchant if his debt is not paid in time
he mainly exemplifies many of the negative traits

1) INTRODUCTION : In the play "The Merchant of Venice Sherlock" play an important role. He is a money-lender and a rich jew of Venus. Sherlock is an intelligent person shylock is a more Complex than any one of the Other characters in the Play.

2) PHYSICAL APPEARANCE : shylo,ck is very suspicious by nature. His hairs are long and rough. His eyes are very sharp. We find hypocrisy in his personality.

3) CUNNING AND GREED MAN : shylock is a very cunning and greedy man. Very cunningly he makes Antonio to sign the bond. He loves money very much.

4) HATE FOR ANTONIO : Sherlock hates Antonio he does not like him because Antonio is Christian. He lends money without interest. Sherlock is a jew and he thinks the jew have great patientce.

5) HIS LOVE FOR MONEY : shylock is hungry for money his mind is filled with tricks and techniques for earning money wealth. He give loan to other on high interest.

6) HIS IDEA OF REVENGE : shylock intents to make Revenge from Antonio because he has abused him publicly many time. He has called him a dog.
