This is possible only when both the plants selected for producing a hybrid are true breeds that are the plants should be homozygous and should have maintained the same phenotypic structure for more than 3 generations.  

If 2 heterozygous plants are crossed to produce a hybrid there is a possibility for the plants to express the recessive gene character.
