Answer ⇒ The surface charge density of the hollow sphere is 1 μCm⁻²...

Explanation ⇒ Charge distributed in sphere = 40 nC.

Now, Hollow sphere is enclosed out of this sphere.

Due to the Inducting, -40nC charge is created on the inner wall of hollow sphere, whereas, + 40 nC charge is created outside the hollow sphere.

Net charge insides of the hollow sphere becomes zero. Net charge that will appears on the hollow sphere is 40 nC.

Now, For surface charge density.

Surface Charge density = σ = Net charge/Area

= 40 × 10⁻⁹/[4 × 3.14 × (0.05)²]

= 10⁻⁸/[4 × (0.05)²]

= 100 ×  10⁻⁸

= 10⁻⁶ Cm⁻².

= 1 μCm⁻²

This is the surface charge density of the hollow sphere.

Hope it helps.
