f = q(v\times b)

f = qvb \sin( \alpha )

so for

 \alpha  = 90 {}^{o}

f = qvb

Explanation:

  • When a charge 'q' enters perpendicularly with direction of magnetic field B with velocity 'v', it would have magnetic force.
  • Th magnetic force is given by :

F=q(v\times B)\\\\F=qvB\sin \theta

\theta is angle between v and B

If it enters perpendicularly with direction of magnetic field, then \theta=90^{\circ}. As a result, force is given by :

F=qvB
