A CHARGED DRINKING STRAW IS BROUGHT NEAR ANOTHER SUSPENDED PLASTIC STRAW,THAT IS a)similarly charged B)uncharged.EXPLAIN WHAT WE WOULD OBSERVE IN EACH CASE AND WHY.

1. In first case when charged straw brought near similar charged straw then repulsion will occur between these straws.

2. When charged straw is brought near to dissimilar charged straw, then attraction will be observed because like charges repel and unlike charges attract.

Charge is not created from nothing. Electrons are transferred in any charging process. Two objects which have become charged with opposite types of charges as a result of the transfer of electrons from the least electron-loving material to the most electron-loving material attract each other. This happens because one is positively charged and the other is negatively charged.

a) The straws which have been similarly charged will repel each other.

b) The charged straw will attract the uncharged straw.
