a charged particle of mass m and charge q is thrown at speed of 10m/s against uniform electric field of 10N/c . if q/m=2 c/kg

a/c to question,

charge particle is thrown at speed of 10m/s against uniform electric field of 10N/C.

means, electric force = Newtonian force

or, qE = ma

or, a = qE/m = (q/m)E

given, q/m = 2 C/Kg and E = 10N/C

so, a = 2 × 10 = 20 m/s² [ it is magnitude of acceleration. but sign of acceleration must be negative because it opposes the motion of particle.

so, a = -20 m/s²

using formula, v² = u² + 2aS

final velocity , v = 0, u = 10m/s and a = -20m/s²

so, 0 = (10)² - 2 × 20 × S

or , S = 100/40 = 2.5 m
