A charged particles of mass 4kg and charge 2C is projected with initial speed 20m/s at an angle 30° with the horizontal. A uniform electric field of intensity 10N/C is present in the region in the +y-direction. Find the maximum height attained by the particle? (Acceleration due to gravity is g=10m/s^2 in y-direction):

Given that,

Mass = 4 kg

Charge = 2 C

Angle = 30°

Speed = 20 m/s

Electric field = 10 N/C

We need to calculate the acceleration

Using formula of electric field

E=\dfrac{F}{q}

a=\dfrac{Eq}{m}

Put the value into the formula

a=\dfrac{10\times2}{4}

a=5\ m/s^2

We need to calculate the time

Using formula of time of flight

t=\dfrac{2u_{y}}{g}

t=\dfrac{2\times20\cos30}{9.8}

t=3.53\ sec

We need to calculate the maximum height attained by particle

Using equation of motion

s=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}at^2

Put the value into the formula

s=20\times3.53+\dfrac{1}{2}\times5\times(3.53)^2

s=101.75\ m

Hence, The maximum height attained by particle is 101.75 m
