let the initial amount of cooking oil = x l
x + 6.2 = 5x
6.2 = 5x-x
4x = 6.2
x = 6.2/4
x = 1.55 l
so in the end, the chef had x + 6.2 l = 1.55 + 6.2 = 7.75 l
