Heya,
A chemical compound having a strong smell of chlorine which is used to disinfect water, the name of that compound is bleaching powder (Calcium oxychloride)
Bleaching powder is formed by the action of Cl2 gas on dry slaked lime.
Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 –› CaOCl2 + H2O
Calcium hydroxide plus chlorine in the presence of heat form calcium oxychloride and water.
Hope this helps....:)
