CaO (s) + H₂O (l) ---> Ca(OH)₂ (aq)

Calcium Hydroxide -> Ca(OH)₂   is used for white washing purposes.
Calcium hydroxide is also known as slaked lime.

The above reaction is an example of combination reaction , where two substances combine  together to form a single new product.

Also ,
In this chemical reaction , we can see that , when water is added to calcium oxide , heat energy is released along with formation of calcium hydroxide.
