A chemist has one solution which is 40% acid & another one is 20% acidic. How much of each solution should
mix to get 10 litres of a solution, which is 25% acidic

Answer:

Let 20% acid be X ltr

Then 40% acid be 10-X

20X+40(10-X)= 25*10

20X+400–40X=250=-20X+400=250=-20X=-150

20X=150

X=150/20=7.5 lts

7.5 lrs of 20% acid solution need to be mixed with 2.5% acid solution to form 25% acid solution of 10 lrs.
