A chemist is to calculate the moles of in sample. She fills a gas burette with water and inverts it into a beaker half-full of water. She records the volume of the tiny air bubbles in the burette. She also records the atmospheric pressure and the temperature of water. She then bubbles the gas sample into the burette records temperature of the water the new total volume. Ideally in order to calculate the moles of gas in the sample, she will need to measure or look up another value, What is this number ? 1f she obtain this number, and does the calculations without it, will her value for the moles of gas be high too low. (And no, the answer is the ideal gas constant she has memorized)
