A chhabeel is organised in a local choraha. The sharbat cold ice water is stored in a large metallic bucket which is in the shape of a frustum of a cone of height 2.1 m with radii of lower and upper ends as 1 m and 2 m respectively. People are served in a small cylindrical tumbler(glass) of radius 3 cm and 15 cm.

If each person from the crowd consumes exactly one glass full of sharbat. How many of them can quench their thirst?

Given :

Bucket is in the shape of frustum of a cone.

Height = 2.1 meter

radii of lower end r = 1 m

radii of upper end R = 2 m

To Find :

The volume of the bucket and the capacity of the bucket.

Solution :

Slant height of the bucket (L)=  \sqrt{h^2+(R-r)^2}

=  \sqrt{2.1^2+(2-1)^2}

≈ 2.33 m

Formula to find volume of the bucket

v=\frac{1}{3}\pi (R^2+r^2+R\times r)h

  = \frac{1}{3}\times \frac{22}{7} (2^2+1^2+2\times 1)2.33

  = \frac{22}{21}(7)2.33

  ≈ 17.09 meter³

= 17,090 liters

Volume of the small cylindrical tumbler (glass) = \pi r^2h

= \frac{22}{7}\times 3^2\times 15

= \frac{22}{7} × 9 × 15

= 424.12 cm³

= 0.42412 liter

Number of people can quench their thirst = \frac{17090}{0.42412}

                                                                      =  40,295 people

40,295 people can quench their thirst.
