A child born with six fingers on each hand (polydactyl), has the extra fingers removed by surgery shortly after birth. Polydactyl occurs only in persons who have at least one polydactyl. Will the removal of the extra fingers mean that this child will not have polydactylous. Why?

Answer:

Though the extra fingers are removed the genes for polydactyly in that person will not disappear , they are still present in him so he will remain polydactylous.

Hope it helps

Many doctors removes the extra finger or the digit by surgery. But the gene which causes polydactyl remains in the body even when surgery of the extra digit is done.

So, according to my opinion it is not sure that the child will not have polydactylous again even after removing the extra digit or finger through surgery.
