→ Age of husband = 40 years.
→ Age of wife = 35 years.
Let us assume that, average age of 2 children is x years and average age of total family is y years.
than,
→ Total age of 2 children = 2x years.
→ Total age of family = 4y years .
So,
→ (40 + 35 + 2x) = 4y
→ 4y - 2x = 75 ------------- Eqn.(1)
Now, after born of new child ,
→ total members in family = 4 + 1 = 5
→ new average = (y - 5) years.
So,
→ Total age of family = 5(y - 5) = (5y - 25) years.

→ 4y = 5y - 25
→ 5y - 4y = 25
→ y = 25 years.
Putting value of y in Eqn.(1),
→ 4*25 - 2x = 75
→ 100 - 75 = 2x
→ 2x = 25 years.
Therefore,
→ Total age of 2 children = 25 years.
→ Total children now = 2 + 1 = 3 .
