a child of 35 kg is sitting on a trolley of mass 5 kg . the trolley is given a push by applying a force so that it begins to move with a speed of 4 m/s. the trolley comes to rest after covering a distance of 16 m. find:
1) the work done on the trolley .

Given:
Mass =m=35+5=40kg
velocity=v=4m/s
distance=s=16m
workdone  by trolley =Kinetic energy=(1/2)mv²
=(1/2)x40x4x4
=320joules
workdone by the trolley before coming to rest:=Kinetic energy of trolley before coming to rest
work done=320 J-----------(1)
Final kinetic energy=0 joules
workdone=0 ---------(2)
Work done by trolley before coming to rest:
subtract equation 1 from 2
0joules-320 joules
=-320 joules
