A child questioned his teacher that why do organisms resemble their parents more as compared to grandparents.

This is because the children or daughter organisms  get almost all the genes from their immediate parents and only some of the genes get mutated to produce variations so children have almost same genetic makeup as of parents and in this case genes inherited from immediate parents are more dominant while in certain cases children resemble more with grandparents rather than immediate parents because sometimes genes of grandparents inherited into the children  from parents are more dominant than those inherited from immediate parents.
