father is suffering from far sightedness...and lens is convex lens
this defect occurs coz eyelens does not become thick according to requirements

sidcuberz: 1. This shows that the lens in his father's spectacles is convex lens and a convex lens is used to correct the hypermetropia. Thus his father is suffering from hypermetropia.
sidcuberz: 2. Causes of Hypermetropia : a. Contraction in the size of the eyeball, i.e., distance of retina from the eye lens has decreased.
b. Increase in the focal length of the eye lens, when the eye is fully relaxed.
Akshatloveschemistry: thanks
sidcuberz: Welcome!

Lens used: Convex lens (Converging lens)

a) Hypermetropia

b) Causes

  • The focal length of the eye lens is too long or,
  • The eye ball has become too small
