A chord 12 cm long is 8 cm away from the centre of the circle. What is the length of the chord which is 6 cm away from the chord?​

Take 'O' As center of the circle, And 'AB' as a chord.

According to above figure, The length of 'AB' is 12cm and 'OM' is the distance that is away from the center of the circle. The length of 'OM' is 8cm. ( see in 1st attachment )

Now, the question is what will be the the length of chord, if that will be 6cm away from the centre of circle. ( see in 2nd attachment ).

See in 3rd attachment for answer. ( By using the simple process ).

The required answer , Length of chord , CD = 9cm.

Hence, length of the chord which is far from 6cm away from the centre of the circle = 9cm.
