A chord of a circle subtends an angle 80.93º at the centre. If the chord is 31 cm long, how far is it from the centre?

Given,

To find:-

●how far is it from the centre?

Construction:-

Step1: The bisector through the centre on the chord will bisect the chord .

Step 2 : We can calculate the other angle of triangle ,by using law of triangle i.e. sum of angles is 180°.

Step 3 : Angle we get is 50.035°.

Solution:-

Applying tan rule of trigonometry we can calculate the perpendicular which will be

⇒17.5×tan 50.035°= 20.825cm
