if a perpendicular is drawn from the center to the chord, its length will remain 8 cm but,

Perpendicular drawn from the center of a chord bisects the chord

so, 30 will be divided into 15 cm

to find radius we, joined OA,

we use Pythagoras theorem, so,

OA²=OP² + AP²

OA²=8²+15²

OA²=289

OA=√289

=17 CM
