A circuit containing an 80 mh inductor and a 250 μf capacitor in series connected to a 240 v, 100 rad/s supply. the resistance of the circuit is negligible. (i) obtain rms value of current. (ii) what is the total average power consumed by the circuit ?

Hey !!

(i)           XL = ωL = 100 × 80 × 10⁻³ = 8 Ω

             Xc = 1/ωC = 1 / 100 × 250 × 10⁻⁶ Ω

                   = 40 Ω

Total impedance (Z) = Xc - Xi

                                   = 32 Ω

Irms = 240 / 32 A = 7.5 A

(ii) Average power consumed = 0

(As there is no ohmic resistance in the current )
