Given: R1 = 3

3 parallel resistors, each of resistance R2, R3, R4 - R' = 5

To Find: Total equivalent resistance of circuit = R

Solution:

Solution:Formula used:

parallel equivalent resistance = 1/R" = 1/R2 + 1/R3 + 1/R4

series equivalent resistance = R1 + R2

Calculating the equivalent resistance R" for 3 resistors connected in parallel:-

1/R" = 1/R2+ 1/R3 + 1/R4

1/R" = 1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5

1/R" = 1/5 × 3

1/R" = 3/5

R" = 5/3

Calculating the total equivalent resistance - R of circuit for R" and R1 connected in series:-

R = R1 + R"

R = 3 + 5/3

R = \frac{9 + 5}{3}

R = 14/3 ohms

R = 14/3 ohmsHence total resistance of the circuit = 14/3 ohms
