A circular bacterial plasmid containing a gene for neomycin resistance was cut using restriction enzyme BgI II. Electrophoresis showed one band of 16 kb. The plasmid was cut with Eco RV and electrophoresis showed two bands of 4.5kb and 11.5 kb. Digestion with both enzymes together resulted in three bands of 4.5, 5.5 and 6 kb. Plasmid DNA cut with BgI II was mixed and ligated with human DNA fragments also cut with BgI II to make recombinant DNA molecules. All recombinant clones proved to be tetracycline sensitive. One recombinant clone was cut with BgI II and fragments 3.5 and 16 kb were observed. The same clone was treated with EcoRV and fragments of 4.5, 7 and 8 kb were observed. Explain these results by showing a restriction map of the recombinant clone.
