A circular bar of 25 mm diameter and 4 m long is subjected to a tensile

load of 75 kN is gradually applied. lf the value of Young’s modulus

E = 2 × 105 N/mm2, calculate the increase in length, stress in the bar and

Concept:

Strain energy per unit volume can be expressed as

Where,

σ = stress

ε = strain,

E = Mod. Of elasticity

Calculation:

Diameter of rod = d = 40 mm

Length = 5 m

σ = 47.476 N/mm2

E = 2 × 105 N/mm2

= 35.40 N-m

This is correct answer
