ANSWER

Johan is the faster cyclist. When Johan crosses Sumeet he would have travelled the entire circular field more than Sumeet and will then be able to cross him and meet him again.

Johan completes one more round than Sumeet and when they meet he is one more round ahead of him, which in turn means that he has travelled 360 kms more than Sumeet when they meet.

Let the time at which they meet be equal to 't'.

15×t−12×t=360

3×t=360

Thus t=120 hours......

Answer:

circumference of circular field = 360km

Peter's speed = 12 km/hr.

John's speed = 15 km/hr.

Now,

(1)360/12=30hrs......(time taken)

(2)360/15=24hrs.......(time taken)

now find the LCM of 30 and 24,

30....60,90,120,150,.....

24....48,72,96,120,....

thus, the lowest common multiple here is 120

thus..., 120 hrs later they both will be at the starting point.

hope it helps you ...
