Find the radius of the flower bed:

Radius = Diameter ÷ 2

Radius = 17 ÷ 2 = 8.5 m

Find the area of the flower bed:

Area = πr²

Area = π(8.5)² = 72.25π m²

Find the radius of the flower bed and the sidewalk :

Radius = 8.5 + 3 = 11.5 m

Find the area of the flower bed and the sidewalk:

Area = πr²

Area = π(11.5)² = 132.25π m²

Find the area of the sidewalk:

Area = 132.25π - 72.25π = 60 π = 188.57 m²

Answer: The area of the sidewalk is 188.57 m².
