Given data : A circular flower bed is surrounded by a path 4 m wide the diameter of a flower bed is 66 m.

To find : What is the area of path ?

Solution : Let inner circle be flower bed and outer circle from inner be the path.

Now,

⟹ diameter of inner circle = 66 m

⟹ radius of inner circle = diameter/2 = 66/2 = 33 m

Similarly, radius of outer circle = 33 + 4 = 37 m

{Here, radius = r and π = 22/7 (3.14)}

⟹ area of inner circle = πr²

⟹ area of inner circle = 22/7 * (33)²

⟹ area of inner circle = 22/7 * 1089

⟹ area of inner circle = 23958/7

⟹ area of inner circle = 3422.571429 m²

Similarly,

⟹ area of outer circle = πr²

⟹ area of outer circle = 22/7 * (37)²

⟹ area of outer circle = 22/7 * 1369

⟹ area of outer circle = 30118/7

⟹ area of outer circle = 4302.571429 m²

Here,

⟹ Area of path = area of outer circle - area of inner circle

⟹ Area of path = 4302.571429 - 3422.571429

⟹ Area of path = 879.9999996 m² (880 m² approx)

Answer : Area of the path is 880 m².
