Then the side AB and the  long straight wire carries  current in the same direction,

therefore, will attract each other.

The side CD carry current in the opposite direction, and the long straight wire

therefore,  will repel each other.

Since CD  and  AB are farther from each other ,  the force of attraction  will exceed the force of repulsion ,

that is,   AB  will exceed the force of repulsion on CD.
