A circular park of 28m diameter has been constructed. A 3.5m circular track outside has been

developed along the park. Using algebraic formulae, find the area of the track around the

Hi ,

Diameter of the

circular park(d) = 28m

radius of the park = r = d /2

r = 28/2 = 14m

Width of the track ( w ) = 3.5 m

Radius of the outer circle = R

R = r + w

R = 14 + 3.5

R = 17.5 m

Area of the track

= Area of the outer circle - area of

the inner circle

= πR² - πr²

= π ( R² - r² )

= π ( R + r ) ( R - r )

= π ( 17.5 + 14 ) ( 17.5 - 14 )

= ( 22 /7 ) × 31.5 × 3.5

= 22 × 31.5 × 0.5

= 346.5 Square meters

Area of the track = 346.5 sq m

I hope this helps you.
