Answer:

Radius of circular sheet(R)=14cm and Radius of smaller circle(r)=3.5cm

Length of rectangle(l)=3cm and breadth of rectangle(b)=1cm

According to question,

Area of remaining sheet=Area of circular sheet−[Area of two smaller circle+Area of rectangle]

=πR2−[2(πr2)+(l×b)]

=722×14×14−[(2×722×3.5×3.5)−(3×1)]

=22×14×2−[44×0.5×3.5+3]

=616−80

=536cm2

Therefore the area of remaining sheet is 536cm2.

Question :-

A circular plate is of radius 14 cm. If a circular portion of radius 7 cm cut out from the centre, find the area of remaining part. ( Take π = 22/7)

Solution :-

Required area is shown as a shaded region in adjoining figure.

Procedure :-

Radius of outer circle = R = 14cm.

Radius of inner circle = r = 7 cm

Required area = π ( R² - r² )

=> 22/7 ( 14² - 7² ) cm²

=> 22/7 ( 196 - 49 ) cm²

=> 22/7 × 147 cm²

=> 462 cm²

Therefore ; 462 cm² is the area.
