A circular pond of diameter 28m is surrounded by a path 7 metre wide. find the area of the path

Explanation:

The area of the circular path can be easily found by considering the path along with the circular pond a larger circle and finding its area. On subtracting the area of the pond from this larger circle, we will get the area of the path.

Therefore, let us consider the path and the circular pond together as a larger circle.

The diameter of this circle will be = Diameter of the pond + Width of the path X 2

= 28 + 14

= 42 m

Therefore radius of the larger circle = 42/2 = 21 m

The area of the larger circle = πr² = 22/7 X 441 = 1386 m²

Area of the pond = 22/7 X 196 = 616 m²

Area of the path= 1386 - 616 = 770 m²
