Solution :

The radius of the circular wire = 7 cm

∴ the circumference of the circular wire

= 2π × 7 cm

= 2 × (22/7) × 7 cm

= 44 cm

It is given that the circular wire is bent to form a rectangle whose sides are in the ratio 4 : 7 and we consider x to be a common multiple. Then the sides of the rectangle are 4x cm and 7x cm.

By the given condition,

perimeter of the rectangle = circumference of the circle

i.e., 2 (4x + 7x) = 44

or, 11x = 22

or, x = 2

So, the sides of the rectangle are 8 cm and 14 cm.

Therefore, the area of the rectangle is

= 8 × 14 cm²

= 112 cm²
