CORRECT QUESTION :-

A circus tent is cylindrical upto a height of 3 m and conical above it. If the diameter of base is 105m and slant height of conical part is 53m, Then the total Area canvas used in making the tent is?

-----------METHOD (1)--------------------

SOLUTION :-

GIVEN :-

=> r = d/2 .°. r = 105/2m

=> L = 53m

=> h = 3m

CALCULATION :-

=> total canvas ,

=> CSA of cone + CSA of cylinder

=> πrl + 2πrh

=> .°. πr(l+2h)

=> 22/7 × 105/2 × [53 + 2(3)]

=> 11 × 15 × 59

=> 9735m².

hence, the total canvas used in making tent is 9735m².

----------METHOD (2)-------------------

SOLUTION :-

GIVEN :-

=> r = d/2 .°. r = 105/2 = 52.5m

=> L = 53m

=> h = 3m

CALCULATION :-

=> surface area of cylinder = 2πrh

=> 2×22/7×52.5× 3

=> 44 × 7.5 × 3

=> 990m².------------(1)

=> surface area of cone = πrl

=> 22/7 × 52.5 × 53

=> 22 × 52.5 × 53

=> 8745m².-----------(2)

from (1) & (2)

=> total canvas = surface area of cylinder+surface area of cone

=> total canvas = (990 + 8745)m²

=> total canvas = 9735m²

therefore, the total canvas used in making tent is 9735m².

verification :-

=> total canvas = surface area of cylinder+surface area of cone

=> 9735m² = (990 + 8745)m²

=> 9735m² = 9735m²

hence verified!!!
