Answer:

60 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Pipe A can fill a cistern of capacity C in = 10 hours

Pipe B can empty a cistern of capacity C in = 12 hours

Capacity Pipe A can fill the cistern in 1 hour = C/10

Capacity Pipe B can empty the cistern in 1 hour = C/12

Quantity Pipe A and Pipe B together can fill the cistern of capacity C = C/10 - C/12 = C/60

So both the pipes can fill a quantity of C/60 of the cistern with capacity C in 1 hour

1 hour — C/60

? How many hours — C

Number of hours both the taps together need to fill the tank with capacity C = (C x 1)/C/60 = 60 hours

Therefore, together they are gonna take 60 hours to fill the tank.
