Answer:

Given: The population of town (ξ)=10000

No of people who reads newspaper A =n(A)=5400

No of persons who reads newspaper B =n(B)=4700

No of people who reads both newpapers =n(A∩B)=1500

n(A∪B)=n(A)+n(B)−n(A∩B)

=5400+4700−1500=8600

and

n(A∪B)

=n(ξ)−n(A∪B)

=10000−8600=1400

∴ No of persons who do read either of the papers are 1400.
