Class  \: has  \: 36  \: boys

 \frac{1}{4}  \: of \: boys \:  sitting \: inside

x -  \frac{1}{4x}  = y +  \frac{1}{4x}

 \frac{(4 - 1)x}{4}  =  \frac{4y + x}{4}

3x = 4y + x

2x = 4y

x = 2y

x + y = 36

2y + y = 36

3y = 36

y =  \frac{36}{3}

y = 12

x = 2 \times 12

x = 24
