let the number of boys be x

no of girls = x+4

no of boys when all are present x+8

no of girls = 2*(x+8)= 2x+16

total students = 2x+x+16+8= 3x+24

Answer:

There are 20 boys and 24 girls in the class.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of boys

A class has 4 more girls than boys

So, the number of girls =x+4

8 boys were absent

Number of boys = x-8

The number of girls was twice that of boys on that day

So, x+4=2(x-8)

x+4=2x-16

16+4=2x-x

20=x

So, the number of boys are 20

Number of girls = x+4=20+4=24

Hence there are 20 boys and 24 girls in the class.
