A class has 41 pupils. There are 7 more girls than boys. Find the ratio of
the number of girls to that of boys.

let number of boys = x
then number of girls = x+7
x+x+7 = 41
2x = 34
x = 17  = number of boys 
number of girls = 17 + 7 = 24
ratio = 24/17

let the number of boys be x.
therefore the no.of girls=x+7;
since total no.of students=41;
therefore; x+(x+7)=41
2x=34
x=17
no. of boys=17
no. of girls =17+7=24
therefore ratio of no. of girls to no.of boys=24/17.
