Number of boys in the class be 26 and number of girls in the class be 9.

  • Total number of students in this class is 35. Let the number of boys be x and number of girls be y. Then according to the problem x+y = 35
  • Again there are 8 more boys than twice the girls. Then according to it x = 2y+8 .
  • Now putting this value of x into the first equation we get 2y+8+y=35
  • Or 3y = 35-8 = 27
  • Hence y = 9. Hence x = 35-9 = 26
  • so number of boys in the class be 26 and number of girls in the class be 9.
