Answer:

Total number of students in class is, N = 40

Number of students studying Accounting is, N(A)= 24.

Number of students studying Economics is, N(E)= 22.

Number of students studying both is, N(A + E) = 15 .

The probabilty of a student studies both P(A+E), is obtained as below,

P(A + E) N (A + E) N P(A + E) = 15/40 =

P(A + E) = 3/8

Thus, the probability that a student studies both is 3/8.
