a classroom is 8 m long,7 m broad,4.5m high. Doors and windows occupy an area of 18 square metre. Find the cost of whitewashing the walls at the rate of 2.50per sq.metre.

To find the cost of whitewashing the walls. First we have to find out the lateral surface area of cuboid.

Lateral surface area of cuboid = 2h (l +b )

= 2 × 4.5 ( 8 + 7 )

= 9 (15)

= 135² m

The cost 1 sq.m is  Rs. 2.50

the cost of whitewashing the walls= 2.50 × 135

= Rs. 337.50
