A clinical thermometer has kink on it and the range of clinical thermometer is 32 degree to 42degree celcius

The clinical thermometers are designed for a max. temp of 45 deg C and use the thermal expansion of liquids, either mercury or colored ethanol in a glass tube. The total internal volume cannot withstand the huge internal pressure of the expanded liquid and its vapor, if the temperature is raised to 100 deg C, which is the boiling point of water. This excessive internal pressure leads to the fracture of the glass tube, mostly at the weakest point, the thin walled sensor bulb
