Given  :  A clock gains uniformly. it is slow by 18 minutes at 07:25 pm on tuesday.   it shows the correct time at 00:00 hr on thursday

To find : how much did clock gain per day

Solution:

slow by 18 minutes at 07:25 pm on tuesday

shows the correct time at 00:00 hr on thursday,

=> Total Hrs = 28 hrs 35 minutes

Gained 18 minutes in  28 hrs 35 minutes   = 28 + 35/60 hr = 28 + 7/12  hrs

= 343/12 Hrs

There are 24 hrs in a day

Time gained in 343/12  hrs  =  18 Mins

Time gained in 1  hr   =  18 /(343/12)  = 216/343  MIns

Time gained in 24  hr   = 24 * 216/343

= 15 mins  7  Secs

Time gained by Clock in a day = 15 mins  7  Secs
