5 days (24 hours×5 days= 120 mins=2 hours)

So, the time on the 5th day will be 8-2= 6 AM.

Concept:

A clock is a rotatable instrument having three hands: an hour hand, a minute hand, and a second hand. Horology is the scientific study of clocks.

360 degrees are divided into 12 equal parts to make a clock. By dividing the 360° total angle of the clock by the number of divisions (12), it is possible to determine the angle between two successive divisions.

To determine the value of a single unit from a specified multiple, use the unitary technique. How to determine the value of one pen, for instance, if the cost of 40 pens is Rs. 400. The unitary approach can be used to complete it. Additionally, after determining the value of a single unit, we can multiply that value by the number of units needed to determine the value of the additional units. The concept of ratio and proportion is mostly applied using this way.

Given:

A clock is set at 8 AM. The clock loses 12 minutes in 24 hours

Find:

What will be true time when the clock indicates 7AM on 5th day

Solution:

5 days

Using unitary method,

24 hours  = 12 minutes

24 x5 hours = 120 minutes

                   = 2hours

So, the time on the 5th day will be 8-2= 6 AM.
